Member Spotlight

Hello, my name is Merry Braham. I have lived in Alaska for 65 years - 46 of them in Eagle River. I have been intimately involved in the community from local PTA and owning my own retail business for 15 years. I have been involved with the Chamber of Commerce for many years. Along with a select few members, we started the Bear Paw Festival in 1985. I’m proud to say that this festival continues to be a huge success today!

In 2018 I went to Juneau and worked as a legislative aid to Rep. Dan Saddler for one session. Upon my 1st retirement, in summer of 2018 I stayed home and enjoyed the outdoors – but come early 2019 I decided to take a “part time” gig that turned into 40+ hours a week. Then came my 2 nd retirement. In May 2020 my friend, Al Bowler, offered me a REAL part time job and I accepted. I enjoy helping people and it gives me an opportunity to be out and about.

I was a member of Chugiak Eagle River Women in Business several years ago. Seeing the growth of the organization and the energy is very exciting to me. I decided to rejoin this group of women and I thank you all very much for welcoming me back!
