Alaska Military Youth AcademyChallenging Alaska's Youth, One Life at a Time

The Alaska Military Youth Academy is a community-based program that leads, trains, and mentors 16-18 year old Alaskan youth who have left high school without receiving a credential.  The program is a 5 ½ month residential school with a 12-month non-residential component.  It is located on JBER and is a drug, alcohol, and tobacco free learning environment.

Cadets are instructed in the following Core Components: Life Coping Skills, Job Skills, Health and Hygiene, Academic Excellence, Service to Community, Leadership/Followership, Physical Fitness, and Responsible Citizenship.  In addition, cadets can work towards the completion of a High School diploma, GED, or credit recovery. Each cadet works with staff and a approved adult mentor to set and work towards their individual goals to obtain a successful future.
